Did you know Slap Ya Mama Cajun Pepper Sauce tastes real good with Creole Chicken Boudin Waffles

New Orleans is one of the most unique and vibrant cities in the US. It is well known for its distinct cuisine, nightlife and hospitality. In short, the place is a foodie's dream vacation.

The modern-day cuisine of New Orleans is a fusion of national and international cuisines. At the heart of the cuisine lies French and African cuisine. Two of the most common styles of cooking that have gained prominence in the region are the Cajun style and Creole style. In this modern era, creole and Cajun are considered interchangeable terms, but it wasn't always like that. Contrary to modern-day misconceptions, the Cajun style of cooking originated along Louisiana's bayou. Over time the Cajun-style immersed itself into the culture and cuisine so much that it became inseparable from the place.

Creole-style cooking is a combination of various European cuisines and mainly involves the use of paprika, red pepper, garlic, onion and tomatoes. This mix is most often presented in a sauce with seafood. On the contrary, the cajun style involves the use of paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, pepper and oregano. The mix is then steamed or cooked using dry heat. Popular dishes that popped out of the city are jambalaya and gumbo.
